IceHogs return home on Friday to face Quad City

Week 21 Recap
The road continued to be kind to the Rockford IceHogs during Week 21 as the American Hockey League club grabbed five out of a possible six standings points to hang onto to a share of second place in the West Division.  The IceHogs will play two of three away from home in Week 22 with the only home game slated for Friday when Quad City visits Rockford.

Week 21 Results        
Wednesday, Feb. 25: Rockford 1 at Peoria 2 SO

Friday, Feb. 27: Rockford 6 at Houston 1
Saturday, Feb. 28: Rockford 3 at San Antonio 2 SO

Week 22 Schedule   
Wednesday, March 4 at Grand Rapids, 6 p.m.    
Friday, March 6 vs. Quad City, 7:30 p.m.   
Saturday, March 7 at Peoria, 7 p.m.

Bacon Bits:
-Rockford has gone a season high five straight road games without a regulation loss (4-0-0-1) dating back to 2/11/09

-In their last 11 road games dating back to 1/29/09, Rockford is 8-2-0-1  

-The IceHogs held the Houston Aeros to just 14 shots on goal on Friday, matching a club AHL era record low for fewest shots allowed in a game

-Rockford also held Quad City to 14 shots on goal on 12/15/07 in a 3-0 win

-On Saturday San Antonio chipped 15 shots on goal in the first period

-The IceHogs have held the opposition scoreless on the power play in a season high four straight games and 23 overall power plays dating back to 2/19/07

-Pascal Pelletier notched his third four-point game of the season

-That’s the most since Preston Mizzi had four four-point games in 2005-06

-Pelletier also set an IceHogs AHL single-season record and tied an overall franchise mark with his sixth game-winning goal of the season on Friday in Houston

-Since returning from injury on 1/29/09, Tim Brent has 10g-10a-20pts with a plus/minus rating of +7 in 15 games

-Antti Niemi set an IceHogs AHL era record with a 119:55 shutout streak that ended Wednesday

Niemi also earned his first career NHL victory in his first NHL start on Sunday, making 22 saves in the Blackhawks 4-2 win over the L.A. Kings

-Rockford is 13-4-0-2 in their black alternate jerseys this season and 19-20-0-3 in their red and white jerseys

Hot Hog Week 21:
Tim Brent led Rockford with six points in three games during Week 21, helping the IceHogs gain five out of a possible six standings points all on the road. Brent chipped in an assist in Rockford’s 2-1 shootout loss on Wednesday in Peoria.  The Hogs team captain then notched a goal and two assists in Rockford’s 6-1 win at Houston on Friday and then assisted on both of the IceHogs goals in regulation on Saturday in a 3-2 shootout win at San Antonio.  Overall, Brent figured in on six of Rockford’s nine goals in Week 21.

Upcoming Games:
Wednesday, March 4 at Grand Rapids Griffins.  The game starts at 6 p.m.  The IceHogs four-game road swing comes to an end when the team makes a final visit to the Van Andel Arena to take on the Griffins. The game is the fourth and final in the season series between the two clubs.

Friday, March 6 vs. Quad City Flames. The puck drops at 7:30 p.m.  The IceHogs and Flames meet up in Rockford for the final time in 2008-09.  The first 2,500 kids 14-and-under will receive an IceHogs Lunch Tin courtesy of Rock Valley Culligan, Rockford Health Systems and 13 WREX.

Saturday, March 7 at Peoria Rivermen. Game time is slated for 7 p.m.  Rockford returns to the road and Peoria to take on the Rivermen at Carver Arena.  The game is the ninth of 10 on the season between the West Division foes and final one in Peoria.  Rockford is 1-1-0-2 in Peoria this season.

The IceHogs Broadcasting Network:
Rockford IceHogs fans can catch all of the IceHogs regular and post-season games on the Hogs flagship radio station Rockford’s Voice, WNTA-AM 1330 and 30 regular season games on ESPN Radio 1380-AM, WTJK.  Fans can also watch and listen to the Hogs on the World Wide Web with AHL Live!  Visit the IceHogs Web site ( and click on the “click here to watch the AHL Live” icon, and for just $6, you can catch all of the IceHogs action on your computer.  Also, fans with Comcast Cable television can tune in to Channel 57 for all the IceHogs hockey action this season.  The broadcast begins with the Pregame Show 30 minutes before the puck drops. Hog Talk Returns Tonight At Cousin’s Bar and Grill:
Bud Light Hog Talk returns tonight at Cousin’s Bar and Grill.  Join Jim Stone from 6-7 p.m. at Cousin’s as he chats IceHogs hockey with Hogs Head Coach Bill Peters.  Tonight’s show will also feature rookie forwards Dan Bertram and Nathan Davis  Stop out to Cousin’s, located on the corner of East State St. and Perryville in Rockford, and take advantage of some great food and Bud Light specials.  If you can’t make it out to Cousin’s, tune into 1330 AM, WNTA.

Where to Watch the IceHogs:
IceHogs fans can now catch every IceHogs regular season game live on TV!  Every IceHogs home game during the 2008-09 season can be viewed on Comcast Cable Channel-57.  When the IceHogs are on the road log onto the IceHogs official team Web site,, and watch the IceHogs through AHL Live for just $6.  Fans can also stop out to the Sports Page, located on Broadway near Alpine Road in Rockford, and watch the IceHogs when the team is on the road.
