Defenseman loaned to Rockford from Columbia
Rockford, Ill.-Rockford IceHogs General Manager of Hockey Operations Al MacIsaac announced on Tuesday that the American Hockey League club has signed defenseman Tyson Marsh to a 25-game PTO. Marsh was loaned to the IceHogs from the ECHL’s Columbia Inferno.
The 2007-08 campaign is Marsh’s fourth in the pro ranks. With Columbia this season, the 6’-1” defenseman has appeared in 61 games accumulating 3g-14a-17pts. The call-up to the AHL is Marsh’s first this season, but not the first of his career.
Marsh previously appeared in 34 games in the AHL with the Toronto Maple Leafs organization, most recently last season when skated on Opening Night with the Toronto Marlies where he chipped in an assist. The Quesnel, British Columbia native also skated in 12 games with Marlies in 2005-06 and 21 contests with the St. John’s Maple Leafs in 2004-05.
Rockford on Monday released defenseman Mike Knight. Knight returned to the Johnstown Chiefs (ECHL) after playing in a pair of games with Rockford. While with Rockford, Knight was whistled for eight penalty minutes.
Next Home Game: Friday, March 21 vs. Quad City. Game time is 7:30 p.m. The IceHogs and Flames mix it up at the MetroCentre for the final time this season. The IceHogs and Comcast welcome SpongeBob SquarePants to the game.
