Chicago, Ill.- The Chicago Blackhawks return home today from a nine-day road trip with a 2-0 lead over the San Jose Sharks in the National Hockey League’s Western Conference Finals.
Chicago beat San Jose 4-2 in Game 2 for their seventh straight road postseason win, tying an NHL playoff record. Former IceHogs goalie Antti Niemi stopped 69 or 72 shots in the first two games against the Sharks.
Right wing Dustin Byfuglien marked his third goal in as many games and sixth of the postseason to give the Hawks a 2-0 lead. Troy Brouwer tallied Chicago’s fourth goal of the game, his second of the postseason. It was a tip-in on a slap shot by Niklas Hjalmarsson from the left point.
Left wing Kris Versteeg also posted an assist in the game, his fourth helper and seventh point in the postseason.
The best-of-seven series comes to the United Center for Game 3 at 7 p.m. The game will be televised on Versus and broadcast on WIND 560AM. Game 4 will also be at the United Center. The puck drops at 2 p.m. on Sunday on NBC and WIND 560AM.
