Former IceHogs goaltender Antti Niemi, who wore No. 31 with Rockford and also wears it with Chicago, became the first Finnish goalie to win the Stanley Cup on Wednesday with the Blackhawks.
Niemi spent the majority of the 2008-09 season with the IceHogs, finishing with a 18-14-3 record in 38 games. He earned a spot with the Blackhawks in training camp this season en route to a 26-7-4 record in the regular season and a 16-6 record in the playoffs.
Ten former IceHogs played for Chicago in the Stanley Cup Finals as they beat the Philadelphia Flyers in six games.
