ICEHOGS UNVEIL 13TH ANNUAL JERSEY AUCTION THEME

By: Mike Peck
Rockford, Ill. - It’s “Viva Rock Vegas” for this year’s edition of the 13th Annual Rockford IceHogs Jersey Auction! The 2012 Jersey Auction theme was announced at a press conference on Tuesday at Lou Bachrodt Auto Mall in Rockford.

The IceHogs will don the special jerseys feturing “Gambler Hammy” on Sunday, March 11 when they take on the Milwaukee Admirals at 5:05 p.m. at the BMO Harris Bank Center. The concept and design of the logo and jersey were created by Mike Bunjan of Bunj Creative.

Immediately following the game on March 11, the team will hold a live auction on the ice where fans can bid on each player’s jersey. All proceeds from the jersey auction go to the IceHogs Charitable Foundation. Some of the jersey auction beneficiaries include the Muscular Dystrophy Association, Boy Scouts and Girls Scouts of America, Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Rockford and Jr. IceHogs.

Last season, the generous IceHogs fans raised $34,156 at the Annual Jersey Auction and now have totaled $613,579 in 12 auctions since the team was founded in 1999, with all the proceeds staying in the Rockford community. In 2010-11, the IceHogs and IceHogs Charitable Foundation raised $111,250 for local and national non-profit causes and organizations.

To go along with the live jersey auction, the night will also feature several silent auction items and a raffle for a customize-your-own “Viva Rock Vegas” jersey.

The first 1,500 fans to the game on March 11 will receive a set of IceHogs Poker Cards featuring players from the 2011-12 IceHogs team courtesy of Lou Bachrodt Auto Mall.

For tickets to the game call (815) 968-5222, visit icehogs.com or stop by the BMO Harris Bank Center Box Office.
