Rockford, Ill. - The Chicago Wolves erupted for seven goals through the first two periods and cruised to a 7-2 victory over the Rockford IceHogs in an Illinois Lottery Cup showdown Friday Night at the BMO Harris Bank Center. The IceHogs welcomed their second-largest crowd of the season for Hockey Fights Cancer night, with 5,094 fans attending the contest.

Curtis McKenzie got Chicago out to an early lead at the 4:39 mark of the first period. Anthony Louis helped the IceHogs bounce back just under four minutes later, firing his team-leading eighth goal of the season from in tight to beat Chicago goaltender Max Lagace low to the glove side.

Chicago regained control of the contest late in the first frame when Zach Whitecloud and Brandon Pirri potted goals 38 seconds apart from each other. Pirri’s goal, a coast-to-cost effort in which the former IceHog powered his way past the Rockford defense, held up as the eventual winner.

Darren Raddysh sparked a brief push from the IceHogs when he trimmed the Chicago lead to 4-2 with a power-play blast from the point, but the offensive onslaught from the Wolves proved insurmountable.

The Wolves victory evened this year’s Illinois Lottery Cup series at one apiece. Rockford was victorious in the teams’ first meeting of the season, a 4-3 decision in Rosemont.

Next Home Game: Saturday, Dec. 1 vs. Milwaukee Admirals | 6 p.m.
