The Chicago Blackhawks have assigned goaltender Corey Crawford to the American Hockey League’s Rockford IceHogs.

Crawford, 24, appeared in one North American preseason game with the Blackhawks, recording 24 saves on 30 shots in the team’s 6-2 loss at the Washington Capitals on September 23. The Montreal native also registered four saves on five shots in 29:32 of action in Chicago’s 9-2 win over HC Davos at Hallenstadion in Zurich, Switzerland as part of the Victoria Cup on September 28.

The Blackhawks (1-0-1) open the North American portion of their regular-season schedule when they face off against the Detroit Red Wings at Joe Louis Arena on Thursday, October 8 at 6:30 P.M. (CT) before hosting the Colorado Avalanche in their United Center home opener on Saturday, October 10 at 7:30 P.M.
