Rockford welcomes first-place Hamilton on Wednesday, then play Peoria, Grand Rapids

Week 17 Recap
The Rockford IceHogs returned from the All-Star break to post wins over the Peoria Rivermen and Grand Rapids Griffins and improve to 6-0-0-1 over their last seven games. The Hogs welcome in the North Division’s top team in the Hamilton Bulldogs on Wednesday for the first time since 2007-08 and then face Peoria and Grand Rapids in a two-game set this weekend.

Wednesday, Jan. 27 vs. Hamilton, 7:05 p.m.

Bacon Bits:
-Rockford extends its point streak to 6-0-0-1 with two wins over the weekend

-It’s the longest point streak for the franchise since a 16-game stretch in 2007-08 (11/25/07-12/29/07, 11-0-1-4)

-In addition to the team’s active season-long point streak, they have an active home point streak (5-0-0-1) and road point streak (3-0-0-1)

-Defenseman Jonathan Carlsson picked up his first American Hockey League goal and point on Saturday

-The lamp-lighter turned out to be the eventual game winner

-Winger Kyle Greentree has scored a goal in three straight games, the longest streak for any Hogs skater in 2009-10

-He also has an active seven-game point streak (5g-4a-9pts), the second longest for him this season

-Greentree has scored 16 goals in his last 30 games to take over the team lead after scoring just one goal in his first 11 games

-Center Bracken Kearns has an active five-game streak (2g-4a) and Richard Petiot has an active three-game streak (4a)

-Jack Skille has 3g-4a-7pts in six games since returning from recall to the Chicago Blackhawks on Jan. 11
-The AHL All-Star also registered two assists in Tuesday’s game in Portland, Maine in his first professional All-Star nod

-The Hogs finished the season with a 1-2-1-1 record at Carver Arena in Peoria with a win on Friday

-Evan Brophey became only the second player in IceHogs history to skate in 200 games with the team on Friday

-Winger Dan Davies appeared in 298 games with the UHL IceHogs from 1999-2004

Hot Hog Week 17:
Defenseman Richard Petiot posted three assists and was +3 as the Rockford IceHogs returned to the ice after the All-Star break.  The blueliner has a three-game point streak, which matches the second longest among IceHogs defenseman in 2009-10.  He has six points (1g-5a) in his last six games.  The d-man has surpassed his career high in points and assists in his first season with the IceHogs.

Upcoming Games:
Wednesday, Jan. 27 vs. Hamilton Bulldogs: Game time is 7:05 p.m. The IceHogs take on the Bulldogs for the first and only time at the Rockford MetroCentre in 2009-10. It’s a Golden Goal Wednesday, so if the IceHogs score a goal with 9:10 left on the clock in the third period, one lucky fan will win $10,000. It is also a special discounted WXRX Student Rush night, where all high school and college students as well as any kids can pick up the best available seat for just $5. Additionally, $1 from each ticket sold to this game will go to the Haiti relief efforts.

Friday, Jan. 29 vs. Peoria Rivermen:
Game time is 7:05 p.m. The Rockford IceHogs host the Peoria Rivermen on Pink in the Rink Night.  Help the Hogs raise awareness for breast cancer as $1 from every ticket sold will go to break cancer research.  The first 1,000 women into the game will also pick up a special IceHogs pink t-shirt thanks to Rock Valley Federal Credit Union, 13 WREX and B103 FM.

Saturday, Jan. 30 at Grand Rapids Griffins:
The IceHogs head to Grand Rapids to play the Griffins at Van Andel Arena for the final time in 2009-10.  The puck drops at 6 p.m.  It is the Hogs’ fourth trip to Michigan and sixth contest between the two teams this year.

The IceHogs Broadcasting Network:
Rockford IceHogs fans can catch all of the IceHogs regular and post-season games on the Hogs flagship radio station Rockford’s Voice, WNTA-AM 1330 and 30 regular season games on ESPN Radio 1380-AM, WTJK.  Fans can also watch and listen to the Hogs on the World Wide Web with AHL Live!  Visit the IceHogs Web site ( and click on the “click here to watch the AHL Live” icon, and for just $7, you can catch all of the IceHogs action on your computer.  Also, fans with Comcast Cable television can tune in to Channel 57 for all the IceHogs hockey action this season.  The broadcast begins with the Pregame Show 30 minutes before the puck drops. Make sure to give your opinion during the Comcast Post-Game Call-In Show following each game at (815) 874-8255.

No Bud Light Hog Talk Tonight At Cousin’s Bar and Grill:
Bud Light Hog Talk at Counsin’s Bar and Grill tonight has been cancelled. Join WXRX’s Jim Stone most Mondays from 6-7 p.m. at Cousin’s Bar and Grill as he chats with IceHogs coaches, players and front office staff. Cousin’s is located on the corner of East State St. and Perryville in Rockford.  So stop by and take advantage of some great food and Bud Light specials.  If you can’t make it out to Cousin’s, tune into 1330 AM, WNTA.
