Article By:The Chicago Blackhawks will send a team to compete in the 2011 Toronto Maple Leafs Rookie Tournament, beginning on Saturday, Sept. 10 at General Motors Centre in Oshawa, Ontario.
The Blackhawks roster features 11 players (Simon Danis-Pepin, Chris DiDomenico, David Gilbert, Jimmy Hayes, Shawn Lalonde, Joe Lavin, Peter LeBlanc, Jeremy Morin, Dylan Olsen, Phillippe Paradis and Ryan Stanton) that have worn a Rockford IceHogs sweater.
The squad has four first-round draft picks and nine players selected in the first two rounds of the National Hockey League Entry Draft, that will compete in three games against rookie squads from the Maple Leafs, Ottawa Senators and Pittsburgh Penguins.
The Blackhawks club will also be highlighted by five members of the organization’s 2011 draft class, including first round selections Mark McNeill and Phillip Danault. McNeill paced the Western Hockey League’s Prince Albert Raiders with a career-high 49 assists and ranked second on the team with a career-best 32 goals last season, while Danault captained the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League’s Victoriaville Tigres, notching a career-best 67 points (23G, 44A) and a +17 plus/minus rating.
