Rockford, Ill. – Alex Tuch netted the game-winning goal with 14 seconds remaining in overtime to help the Iowa Wild (21-19-4-1) complete a 3-2 comeback victory over the Rockford IceHogs (14-22-5-3) Friday night at the BMO Harris Bank Center.
With time expiring, Sam Anas sent a shot wide of the net that caromed off the end boards to Tuch, who then beat IceHogs goalie Lars Johansson for the Wild’s third straight unanswered goal. The defeat marked the second time in three games that Rockford has surrendered the deciding goal in the final 15 seconds of play.
The Wild combined for two goals in the final frame to force extra hockey. Mario Lucia tallied a power-play strike at 1:14 and Pat Cannone evened the contest at 2-2 with a tip-in goal with 5:24 left in regulation.
The IceHogs fired 39 shots on net, including three in overtime, but were held in check by Steve Michalek, who finished with 37 saves for Iowa.
Jeremy Langlois scored his second goal of the season and Sam Carrick found the net for the seventh time during Friday’s defeat.
